When I say, “I write poetry”, I don’t really mean it.
“Mostly free verse” just means I rant and ramble
In lines that are not quite sentences. They flow
Without rhyme or meter, because while I long to be
One of the greats, I have neither the patience nor the skill required
To craft elegant, eloquent, and exact verses.
I “write poetry” simply to express my petty emotions,
To “tell you how I feel” in the most humble sense of the phrase.
I “write poetry” to scream into the void,
To proclaim, “I am here. I am human, and I feel.”
Even when no one is listening or taking note,
I, regardless, remain one bright star in this vast universe.
I am not really a poet.
I am a manipulator and painter of words both insignificant and meaningful.
When I say, “I write”, I mean it.
I just have to say... you are an absolute inspiration!
