philosophical rant

Let me just say this:

There is nothing more useless, sad, and counterproductive than hatred. Hatred is a conscious decision. When you hate someone, immediately you are prevented from saying or doing anything kind to that person; you have shut off any possibility of friendship with them, for good (that is, or at least until you decide to stop, if you ever do.)

Every time you see them, you have to remember to sneer instead of smile, to glower, to dislike, to spread rumors, to shift the weight of the terrible grudge on your back. It is a voluntary waste of time, energy, and freedom. The person that could've been your dearest friend becomes your most bitter enemy. The thought of them must always be unpleasant; they must always cause you anger.

Does hatred make you happy? Is it fun to always be angry? This is probably just me, but I would say no. I don't like being mad. Anger is a constant conflict, a chafing between two hard, hard rocks. A grudge is a pointing finger, an accusatory, judgmental finding of fault. Wouldn't it just be easier to love? The empty rewards of hatred are not worth the losses, to me. We're all in this world together, and for a pretty long time, so we might as well learn to like each other. You wouldn't believe the relief and incredible lightness that comes with the decision to love others.

Hold on. Before you say anything, let me remind you that I am not perfect, far from it. I know it's hard to turn the other cheek like we're all expected to do, but hey. By trying (keyword here being try) to love everyone, we're not perfect, but we're a little bit closer.
-----------------------------
Yes, it's time, it's time
To find a new way to do what we've been doin'
It's time, it's time
To make the best out of this mess that you and me call life
It's on us,
So let's take a step back, relax, and quit the fussin', it's
Time to forgive, time to forget
Most of all, it's time for, love.
La-la-la-love~
